Case #CLM-011 • Climate Alarmism • Active Investigation

Model Worship and the Vanishing Error Bar

Allegation

A model output was promoted as moral authority: “the science says,” therefore you comply. Error bars, assumptions, and failure modes were treated as hostile questions. The public was asked to fund the forecast, obey the forecast, and feel guilty about the weather.

Evidence Tampering

  • A prediction marketed as inevitability, with the uncertainty filed under “confusing to taxpayers.”
  • Calibration problems rebranded as “consensus,” as if agreement is a measurement device.
  • Policy mandates presented as “what the data demands,” when what the data actually said was “it’s complicated.”

Hooligan Findings

Conclusion: High Confidence Messaging, Medium Confidence Math.

If the model is your priest, your policy is a religion. Science can handle scrutiny; propaganda needs a hall monitor.

Require every public-facing claim to ship with a one-page appendix: assumptions, sensitivity to inputs, historical error, and what would falsify the forecast. If the answer is “nothing,” congratulations. You built a belief system with a grant number.
